live+Work — mixed use — green design

The Canale Studios is a mixed-use building overlooking Seattle’s bustling Fremont Ship Canal, designed to fit the urban housing and industrial context. It contains office and retail spaces, as well as a live + work studio for the owners. A courtyard with a rain garden to handle onsite stormwater provides off-street parking and a private patio for the caretaker’s unit. Large decks off the main living level overlook the Burke Gilman bike path and ship canal, while a fourth-floor rooftop terrace and garden affords a flexible private outdoor space above the fray of the city.
