ChefSteps.com Development Offices
adaptive reuse — workspace — historic building renovation
Seattle, Washington
This adaptive reuse 4,000 SF tenant improvement in the historic Madore Building was designed to serve as the research and development office for ChefSteps.com, a fast-growing technology company.
Originally built in 1910, the Madore is one of the oldest concrete-frame structures in Seattle. Our design celebrates the dramatic texture of the cast concrete columns and ceiling by minimizing surface-mounted infrastructure.
Clever use of inexpensive wood and steel trim and careful alignment of lights and equipment make the most of a challenging budget. These small details transform ordinary offices into an extraordinary workspace.
In addition to open office space, meeting rooms, and conference facilities, the Development Office includes lab space for rapid prototyping and electronics testing.
